SOULS' BREAKFAST - Day Seven

Dear Fellow Students,

Today I like to remember Rodney Collin.
His wisdom and understanding pierces me each time i read his words. During the last year, here in Great Neck, we studied ‘The Theory of Conscious Harmony’ and it is from this book that today I will extract some ingredients to prepare a breakfast that i hope can feed you the same as it feeds me ............

I have a very strong feeling that the Work is not ours, but comes from above us, and that for this reason the more invisible we remain as personal individuals the better.

If a man does all he has to, one day he can disappear, leaving a vortex of power in his place about which all the rest will rightly revolve. And he will no longer be seen.

My aim is thus to participate in a continuous flow, that passes into us from above, and out of us in one way or another around and about. The moment I cling to some idea as something which cannot be passed on then I immediately create a blockage which prevents new things coming to me.

As the teacher penetrates into higher dimensions, his influence gradually 'spreads' in time.

The idea of reversed time is very interesting …. it is imperative to review all the relationships of our life, and put understanding and right attitude back info them now, while we are still alive. For in this way only could we really affect that unrolling of time. To put understanding back into the past—this seems the practical possibility to which the idea points.

If only we had 'purified emotional center' many things would become so much easier for us. Really it is pure—only other voices take it up so quickly that we don't distinguish what is said. If one learns to listen to heart, it will tell one things so clearly—what must be done, what must not be done, the real nature of people and places and things. Only it speaks so quietly, so subtly, and immediately a flood of reactions, explanations, excuses, theories have swamped it, and we do not even recognize it speak. Only listening carefully to what it wants to say, and remaining still until it has spoken, one cannot really do the wrong thing.

Hope and faith are our greatest weapons. As long as we have them, everything is possible. With hope and faith we demand to be on another level—and it will never be denied us.

You feel the soul by opening your heart to people, by accepting what is. The soul grows through the heart. The heart is the door of the soul. But with all ordinary man, this door is blocked with fear, prejudice, doubt. His heart is not open to the world. He only takes from it what he wants to take, in the way he wants to take it. If he could just be himself, be his whole self, without fear and without self-protection, he would already live from the soul. So learn simply to be, to be your whole self.

First you must live in awareness of your physical body. Then in awareness of your soul. Then in awareness of your spirit.

The whole thing lies in the relation of body, soul and spirit. Body vibrates—more in some than in others, but it vibrates. Spirit vibrates—somewhere. But the soul is very inert, it usually quivers only on the surface, not deeply. We have to make it vibrate throughout, right to its deepest part. It is shaken by joy, pain, loss, discovery, hard decisions, payment, all kind of things. By selfremembering this vibration is carried deep, the whole soul vibrates with it. When the whole soul vibrates as strongly as the body and spirit, then the three vibrate as one. We are one. We are real. We have integrity.
So really we have to be grateful for soul-shaking, though God knows it may be uncomfortable enough at the time. Perhaps our mistake is that we want peace in the wrong place. People ask for peace in their souls—they should ask for turmoil in their souls, so that they may find real peace in their spirits.

We need suffering. We all have to be purified. And suffering is the great purifier. Can we wish that it should not come, either to ourselves or to those for whom we wish growth and purification more than anything?

Recognise your companions on the way, no matter what name they go by. Recognise sincerity, kindness, truth, no matter who expresses it. Recognise that spiritual unity already exists—outside time and space. Work and pray. The rest will come by itself.

Wake up and live. Feel yourself a living being, among living companions, enveloped in the living God. That means, be real, be your whole self. Remember who you are.

There is only one true kind of rest—this is in the thought of God, in the remembrance of God, in God.
In the remembrance of God, I remember who I am and I remember You.
With Immense Love,
A

SOULS' BREAKFAST - Day Six

Dear fellow travelers,
In the last few days I am diving in the energies of 'Il Canzoniere' ("Song Book"), a collection of 366 poems of our conscious being Francesco Petrarch, one of the earliest Renaissance Humanist. (1304-1374)He was 23 when, after giving up his vocation as a priest, met in a church 'Laura', the woman that was going to inspire him and evoke in him many feelings: love, excitement, sorrow, regret, repentance, hope and .... despair at the thought that "what the world likes the most is a short dream."

His poems reflect the earthly passion, deep feelings and the labor of this restless spirit.

Petrarch writes:
"Laura, famous for her own virtues, and so long celebrated in my verses, was first seen by me in my early youth, in the year of our Lord 1327, on the sixth of April, in the Church of Saint Clare at Avignon, in the morning hour ...."

Later in his "Letter to Posterity", Petrarch wrote: "In my younger days I struggled constantly with an overwhelming but pure love affair – my only one, and I would have struggled with it longer had not premature death, bitter but salutary for me, extinguished the cooling flames. I certainly wish I could say that I have always been entirely free from desires of the flesh, but I would be lying if I did".

Let us enjoy together the poem #3 and some verses of the poem #325.

3. ‘Era il giorno ch’al sol si scoloraro’

It was on that day when the sun’s ray
was darkened in pity for its Maker,
that I was captured, and did not defend myself,
because your lovely eyes had bound me, Lady.

It did not seem to me to be a time to guard myself
against Love’s blows: so I went on
confident, unsuspecting; from that, my troubles
started, amongst the public sorrows.

Love discovered me all weaponless,
and opened the way to the heart through the eyes,
which are made the passageways and doors of tears:

so that it seems to me it does him little honor
to wound me with his arrow, in that state,
he not showing his bow at all to you who are armed.

325. ‘Tacer non posso, et temo non adopre’

I can’t be silent, yet I fear to use
my tongue lest it contradicts my heart,
though it wishes to do honor
to its lady listening from heaven.
How can I, unless you teach me, Love,
how to match mortal words to things
divine, that high humility
conceals, and gathers to itself?
Her gentle soul had only been, a little while
within that prison she’s now freed from,
at that time when I first saw her:
so that I suddenly ran,
since it was spring of the year and my life,
to gather flowers in the fields around,
hoping, so adorned, to please her eyes.

.....................

The day that she was born, the planets
that produce happy effects among you
were in a special and noble array,
turned to each other in love:
Venus, and Jupiter of benign aspect,
took a lovely and auspicious place,
and the evil, harmful lights
were scattered over almost all the sky.
The sun had never shone on so fair a day:
the air and earth rejoiced, and the waves
in the seas and rivers were at rest.
Among so many friendly stars,
one distant cloud displeased me:
which I fear will melt away in tears
if Pity does not nobly change heaven’s course.

When she entered this low earthly life,
which, to tell the truth, was not worthy of her,
a new sight to see,
already saintly, and sweet yet bitter,
she seemed a fine white pearl enclosed in gold:
then as she crawled, then took faltering steps,
wood, water, earth, and stone
grew green, clear, soft, and the grass
proud and new under her hands and feet,
and made the fields flower with her lovely eyes,
and quietened the winds and the storm
with a voice still not formed,
with a tongue still wet with her mother’s milk:
showing clearly to the deaf, blind world
how much of heaven’s light was already in her.

I send You immense Love.

SOULS' BREAKFAST - Day Five

Dear All,

Since I was very young, I have always been fascinated by Leonardo Da Vinci. (1452 -1519).

We used to study about him since we were in the elementary school ..... There was so much attraction to this genius that was left handed and used to write backwards ... So much mystery around his astonishing works ... around this Man that had a strong empathy with birds ...........
When I was living in Florence, I often used to visit Vinci, the little town where he was born.

We study many of his paintings ......

Today ... let's read some of his words and be pierced from his understanding ..........

Human subtlety will never devise an invention more beautiful, more simple or more direct than does nature, because in her inventions nothing is lacking, and nothing is superfluous.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.

A painter should begin every canvas with a wash of black, because all things in nature are dark except where exposed by the light.

Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art.

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

In rivers, the water that you touch is the last of what has passed and the first of that which comes; so with present time.

The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding.

The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions.

The truth of things is the chief nutriment of superior intellects.

While I thought that I was learning how to live, I have been learning how to die.

SOULS' BREAKFAST - Day Four

Dear All,

Today let's travel to Italy... Florence... (1265-1321)

We are sitting outside a bar and... as we are enjoying

a fresh brioche with a foamy cappuccino ....
We direct our glances to that corner of the Lungarno

where Dante first saw Beatrice ...........
We connect with the 'stirring' of his feelings ..............

the stretching and the opening of his heart .................
the energy of Love....... the Love for God.......
the Love of God.

Dante comes at our table and speaks to us:

The love of God, unutterable and perfect,
flows into a pure soul the way that light

rushes into a transparent object.

The more love that it finds, the more it gives
itself; so that, as we grow clear and open,

the more complete the joy of heaven is.

And the more souls who resonate together,
the greater the intensity of their love,

and, mirror-like, each soul reflects the other.

.....................

You who by understanding move the third heaven,
hear the discourse which is in my heart,
and which seems so strange to me that I know not how to say it to others.

The heaven which responds to your power,

noble creatures that you are,

draws me into the state in which I find myself,

and so it seems that speech about the life
I am experiencing
is most appropriately addresses to you.
Therefore I pray that you will understand me.

Let our souls resonate together in the intensity of Love.

SOULS' BREAKFAST - Day Three

Dear Fellow Travelers,

Today I share with you the wisdom of Meher Baba ...
Drink his words with me and let them become part of our being.

Enjoy this breakfast ..........

GOD IS SHY OF STRANGERS

God exists.  If you are convinced of God's existence then it rests with you
to seek Him, to see Him and to realize Him.

Do not search for God outside of you.
God can only be found within you, for His only abode is the heart.

But you have filled His abode with millions of strangers and He cannot enter,
for He is shy of strangers.
Unless you empty His abode of these millions of strangers you have filled it with, you will never find God.
These strangers are your age-old desires--your millions of wants.
They are strangers to God because want is an expression of incompleteness and is fundamentally foreign to Him who is All-sufficient and wanting in nothing.
Honesty in your dealings with others will clear the strangers out of your heart.
Then you will find Him, see Him and realize Him.

All growth is gradual
and it is only through slow and gradual stages that man truly begins
to grow up and discover his true Self
and to relinquish the childish playthings of hate, greed, and anger.

Live more and more in the Present,
which is ever beautiful and stretches away beyond the limits of the past and the future.

Remember to begin the day with a prayer and remember the Lord
when the day is ended, when your activities have calmed down.
Remember Him, dedicate your strengths and your weaknesses to Him!

When true love is awakened in the aspirant, it leads him to the realization of God and opens up the unlimited field of lasting and unfading happiness.

Love is the reflection of God's unity in the world of duality. It constitutes the entire significance of creation.

A child's trust in its Mother is complete, because it leaves all its worries to her ...
So if we trust God and let Him worry for us, we live contented and happy.

The mind has a place in practical life,
but its role begins after the heart has had its say.

A mind that is fast is sick. A mind that is slow is sound. A mind that is still is divine.

God is your innermost Self. Do not search for God outside of you.

My deepest Love To You All,

A

SOULS' BREAKFAST - Day Two

Dear All,

February 12th is the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birthday (1809 -1865)

As we read his words ........ let us remember this incredible Man.

"Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today."

"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other one thing."

"There are no accidents in my philosophy. Every effect must have its cause. The past is the cause of the present, and the present will be the cause of the future. All these are links in the endless chain stretching from the finite to the infinite."

"I am rather inclined to silence, and whether that be wise or not, it is at least more unusual nowadays to find a man who can hold his tongue than to find one who cannot."

"You cannot fail if you resolutely determine that you will not."

As I remember You All I send infinite Love,

SOULS' BREAKFAST - Day One

February 11, 2010

Dear All,

Today is the anniversary of Mervyn’s birthday and it is in his honor that we start the ’Souls Breakfast’ octave.
With immense Joy and Love in my heart I thank all of you for making this possible. I am already seeing how much this octave is enriching my inner world and how many hydrogens it is creating.

How many times we had our breakfast with Mervyn, how many of us remember those unforgettable moments.

Today Mervyn is here, at our breakfast, reminding us once again that:

"When you eat today … breakfast, lunch, dinner and lots of tidbits in between.... learn a lesson from the creature … It feeds itself and will not function properly if it does not receive sufficient nourishment.  So it is with the soul. First … give it life by remembering it ...and then MAKE SURE YOU FEED IT!"

These words from Mervyn were really important for me since I entered the Academy.
How many mornings I get up feeling a sort of sadness in my machine .... how many times I feel the urgency to make the ‘connection’ ... to open the window … let the light enter and ‘transform’ what can be a normal moment in a moment of Joy and Love. How many times I make the effort to smile as I look at myself in the mirror and then ... as I look deep within myself …  I remember Mervyn's words ... I know that I am in my own hands and yet not alone … and I remember that it is my school!
“REMEMBER IT IS YOUR SCHOOL”
“When you are next Present, look deep within yourself.
See and feel what is trying to emerge.
It is YOU, not me.
YOU are in your own hands.
We are in our own hands …
And must assist each other.
It is the only way.”
and ...
"The walls of time and space seem solid, real and insurmountable, but the soul is capable of demolishing them all.  Life sees any talk of this as insanity, although I know that the soul can compress eternity into an hour or stretch an hour into eternity.

We are taught to measure in years and months from our birth, yet my soul is always young ... and remains so ... regardless of the creature's concept of time. My soul feels that it belongs to the ages and eons, rather than to the mortal life of the creature."

Thank you Mervyn for guiding and Being with us ... always ... all-ways.

Eternal Love to You All,
A

Soul's Breakfast was begun on February 11, by Annalisa, to honor Mervyn Brady on his birthday. After nine days it will be passed on to another Academy student, and continue in this way, around the globe ....

In Mervyn's own words (March, 2004):

"There is little point in reading and finding a Gem and not passing it on. It saves others from having to read the piece and insures they share your realizations. So next time the Gods speak to you, please share it with us.
This is why this communication exists. No more having moments alone........Share!"

Celebrating Mervyn Brady on Valentines' Day

This week we honor Mervyn on his birthday – he was a man who was all heart.  He used to remind us that our inner Work was not of the thinking type, but of the feeling type – specifically from the heart, an open one.  He often used metaphors of the heart to speak to us.  Once he likened the sun to the heart, in the same way the sun illuminates and warms its planets in the solar system, so does the heart which sends blood throughout the organs of the body. He encouraged us to attend meetings on a regular basis as they are the heartbeat of the school.
My view of a ‘meeting’ has been expanded recently since taking the Prayer Workshop (TOV en Mexico) in which we were given the assignment to spend at least thirty minutes a day alone in sacred time with God (or as Annalisa  refers to it as the soul breakfast).  Whether it be a meeting, meditation or retreat, all of these times are meant to encourage us to connect to our inner world, open our hearts, and deepen our relationship with our God.
In many ways a meeting works similarly to the heart, it’s about receiving and giving.  Through suffering as well as from making efforts to avoid acting upon negative and mechanical impulses, we have the possibility to start to peel off the layers, and rid ourselves of our baggage.  In a state of solitude through self remembering and prayer, we have the opportunity to become empty like the hollow organ of the heart. This opens the heart, and through God’s grace one may be filled with divine inspiration.

The job of the heart organ is to pump fresh blood that comes from the lungs after inspiration.  The heart disperses the oxygen rich blood to feed every living cell in the body.   On the scale of the heart and soul, it is lovely to see students leaving meetings  with a smile on their faces and joy in their hearts after being fed.  Filled with inspiration, we are encouraged to share and disperse this higher love with others.
When I leave the sacred space of a meeting or personal meditation, and return to the day to day encounters, the challenge is to be able integrate my Work through such attitudes as kindness, respect and patience towards friends, foes, students, strangers and myself.

In Caroline’s recent email, she reminds us the soul grows by giving it away.  As Mervyn wrote about sharing the higher love from the heart,  “Next time the Gods speak to you, please share it. No more having moments alone.”
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.  [Matthew 5)

Conscious Harmony

"It is possible to feel great harmony--
the harmony projected from above
within which all real work must take place.
Without that feeling,we become lost
in preoccupation with ourselves."

A New Octave For Academy Outreach

"We cannot hold a torch to light another's path without brightening our own." ~Ben Sweetland

At the request of JM, and with the well wishes of you all, I've created this blogspot to assist in the efforts of the Academy in sharing it's wisdom with those who are searching for truth, presence and awakening. May the light of a higher wisdom shine on this path of sharing knowledge, understanding, and being.

The picture included is of
Rafeal's painting The School of Athens* and is a beautiful depiction of a school in action. Many times M spoke of this painting--maybe you have a recollection, or your own angle that you'd like to share. If so, please comment here so others may learn from your insight.

With Presence,
JB
