Friction

In the story, "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp," Aladdin rubs the Lamp, (which represents friction), then the genie comes out. Maybe in this case the genie is the soul. This fairy tale suggests to us that FRICTION is more secure in awakening the soul.

Normally if the friction is consistent, it will disturb the strength of the machine, and the soul won’t be able to go quite to sleep; it will start opening its eye. So, friction, suffering, in some way awakens the soul.

Suffering does disturb the sleep of the soul, and starts to wake it up. Traditionally, if you were suffering, then it was good for you. “No pain, no gain.”  FRICTION will keep the soul awake, and it will give it grounding more or less. If you plant the seed, and you concoct the right circumstances, something will take place. The soul will start to grow.
