John William Waterhouse
Last night I sat on our deck,
overlooking a pink and red sky,
with crows and hummingbirds soaring in the trees,
palms swaying in a gentle wind.
This week was one of utter chaos in the outer world.
Not only on a global scale,
but on a personal one as well.
And yet,
my soul is like Miranda on the shores of the tempest.
And last night as I breathed in the beauty,
with the moon rising with a misty halo around it,
I felt the immense silent beauty of God.
The gifts of the Divine all around,
in both the vastness and the tiniest details.
