The Little Thing...

“The little thing you put on the scales
that tip them down is usually your chief feature.
Your chief feature
is an outgrowth of your emotional attitude toward yourself.
Chief feature is never a good thing,
but once found, it can be used consciously.
Don't get rid of your motivating force when you find it,
but use it to study yourself.”

I Wish I Could Express the Freedom...

"I wish I could express the freedom,
joy and richness that comes from a deep feeling of diversity in unity,
of the true ‘harmony of the planets.
My planet can’t sing the song of yours, nor yours of mine.
But if several learn to sing their own
we may hope that a harmony will result.
I believe it will."

I Love Those Who Can Smile in Trouble...

"I love those who can smile in trouble,
who can gather strength from distress,
and grow brave by reflection.
'Tis the business of little minds to shrink,
but they whose heart is firm,
and whose conscience approves their conduct,
will pursue their principles unto death."

~Leonardo da Vinci

We See the World...

"We see the world piece by piece, as the sun,
the moon, the animal, the tree;
but the whole, of which these are the shining parts,
is the soul."

~ Emerson

In the Case of Features...

In the case of features,
as we learn to see them in ourselves
(and this is so hard)
we have to make friends with them ...
seeing first the great difficulties they present,
we eventually also see the possibility
of using them for a higher aim.
