It is rare for one to find a life
that is well-ordered privately.
Any person can play their part in the side shows
and represent a worthy man on the boards;
but to be disciplined within, in their own bosom,
where all is permissible and where all is
concealed, that is the point.
~Michel Montaigne

These beautiful words from Michel Montaigne drive home the point that our Work is always with us. What good is our Work if we throw it out the window when we leave students or the meeting setting? Rodney Collin points out that we cannot pick and choose which ideas or aspect of the Work we will work on, for if we do, what we ignore we will face it in the future. This has been so difficult for me over the years, as I have many relationships in which habitual behaviors and patterns manifest, and are so difficult to change. Like almost anything, it is easier not to challenge the status-quo of our mechanics. How fortunate we are to have been given the opportunity to observe and refine our mechanics and work towards the awakening of our soul. It is up to us to be honest and not allow the machine to make excuses or establish the rules for our evolution, for that is definitely a losing proposition!
