Ears to Hear

after Leonardo da Vinci

When the soul speaksrealize that a whole new language
must come into being through really listening
with another set of ears...
ears that live in the heart.

Perceive

Albrecht Durer

I enjoy my life more than others,
for the measure of enjoyment depends
upon the greater or lesser attention that we lend it.
Especially at the moment when I perceive
that my life is so brief, I try to increase its mass,
I try to arrest the speed with which I grasp it, and to
compensate for the haste of its ebb by my
vigour in using it.
The shorter my possession of life,
the deeper and fuller I must make it.

The Royal Threshold

John Collier

Love is the royal threshold to God's mystery.
The carnival of small affections and polite attachments
Which litter and consume our passing time
Is no match to Love which pulses behind this play.

Soul Vibrating

M.C. Escher

One tool we can use to keep the soul vibrating with self remembering is to keep making efforts to break habits and old routines. To keep bringing in more beauty and impressions in different ways, outside of our normal comfort zone.

New Octave

Vincent van Gogh

Start a new octave for your soul. Do not think of its results but
rather accept whatever will flourish from it.  We do not have
branches anyway and no one will judge us for our external
appearance. In our complexity, internal beauty this is what
we strive for and this is what we communicate.

Third Line Work

Thomas Cooper Gotch

The aim of third line work must always be higher than our capacity to do it, for it is in going beyond our means that we reach a higher level of being.

Wish

Arthur Hughes

Everything becomes still, there’s nothing more simple than Being in the moment. Yet, the warning arrives: “Don’t stay just there, wish to achieve your aim! Keep going, since you merely got to the mountain base…”

Language of Silence

Edmund Dulac

At night, when the language of silence appeared,
the only words were those of the wind,
suns and planets,
whose light was reflected onto the earth.

Only opening our arms and embracing
with a breath of life this wonder,
could make it remain in our hearts...

It is in this gratitude that we see Gods love,
unending, ever giving,
infinite...
this love is realized,
made alive by those who are here...

Present to Memories

Andrea d’Agnolo del Sarto

Recently I have been finding old memories surfacing in a different way, more REAL ... and as I look at them, and digest the new understandings, it becomes a form of purification of my mind and heart ... As I see things more clearly, I also see the need to perhaps heal old wounds, or clear old accounts … and in this process I am also lifted by beautiful realizations I had lost.

Mirror

Edward Burne Jones

We have the ability to reflect each othernot only the good part of us, the bad part as well. We can reflect both to each other. Our life is mostly relationships but the most important relationship is our relationship with God. That is love.
If you are a student who is seriously looking for love, then, you will be looking honestly at yourself. You may not know what love you are looking for is, but you will know it when you see it.
Finding love is more like digging in ourselves and pulling out what is not love. So when you see something that is not love in somebody, you see it in yourself and you say to yourself, “that is not love that I am looking for;” you pull it out. The person in whom you saw that thing in order to see it in yourself is reflecting that part of you to you.

Sharing

Gian Lorenzo Bernini

I have verified that understanding can be lost or forgotten unless it is shared with others. I found it important to eliminate my understanding in writing or leading a meeting on a topic. Otherwise understanding can diminish or be static. When we eliminate, our understanding could grow as new light may penetrate consciousness while we share. Other’s angles and being can also increase our understanding. It is alive and dynamic in us and always changes with growth in our being.

Don't let me stray

William Blake

There are certain prayers that never seem to reach You.
But I see that there is an anger, a despair in places around my heart.
This hardness won't let me truly ask You for your help or Love.

These are my darkest hours.
And I don't want to hide in the dark, away from You.
Keep me close, don't let me stray.

Beguiled

Edward Burne Jones

Here we see Merlin, rendered helpless by Nimue, entwined in the beautiful hawthorn bush. He sacrificed the development of his soul to the object of his lust, who now uses it's power against him. In Nimue, we see reflections of Medusa with all the destructive and possessive I's that can be produced by the corruptible nature of sex energy. What he worked so hard to obtain is now in her hands. Merlin's hollow gaze serves as warning and his lifeless hand indicates the other direction this powerful energy can take us.

No Words

Edward Burne Jones

When we are lucky enough to be graced in a Love state, there seems to be no words to give one another, only the wish that the Love can somehow enter through the higher will to help and guide. Like an invisible and almost secret desire, very unlike the desire of the machine to be seen or heard… it is more like a deep knowing that God is transcendent above and in all and that we are becoming the living art now.

Transformation

At first the fire seizes upon the wood with
difficulty but when, fanned by stronger draught,
it begins to burn up the latter, dark smoke
belches forth in clouds, so that the flames
are hardly seen. Then, little by little, all
the damp is dried out, the smoke and steam
disappear, and only the bright, glowing fire
can be discerned. Nor does the conquering
flame rest until it has drawn the whole into
itself;  the log has passed into the likeness

of the fire.  All crackling and noise dies
down, for now there is no diversity between
the fire and the wood, and all is silence...

Natural Tendencies

It is important to learn more about people’s natural tendencies, so
that one can show them how to be good, how to be creative, how
to respect themselves, and how to acquire self-realization. This
was the essence of education in ancient Egypt. All children were
tested at the age of five in the temples, in order to direct their
destiny according to their own natural inclinations. According to
one’s Ka (inner nature), each individual can be identified with
one of seven classes of souls.

The Hard Inner Work

Louis Rhead

The hard inner work that is done in quiet reaches everyone else in the group. The work you do to free yourself, frees me. And my work, frees you. At times our machines work against each other because we have machines, but our Souls are working together. There is REAL strength in numbers here. This is Harmony.... this is Love emerging on earth.

Blasted with Light

Michelangelo

When the awakening rays hit man, we often hear phrases as “Blasted with Light”.  We read of the trances of Socrates the “Union of Plotinus” and the “Conversion of Paul”.  It is the awe and the light, which occurs when the individual soul mingles with the universal soul.

The Purpose...

Edward Burne Jones

The purpose of love is the awakening of the soul, but to attain this purpose the love-flame must burn at the maximum of clearness and intensity. This is possible only when there are no false views upon the subject of love, and only for those who are not hopelessly sunk in materiality.
~P.D. Ouspensky
