SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Seventy-seven

Breakfast with Bhagavad Gita

"To action alone hast thou a right and never at all to its fruits;
let not the fruits of action be thy motive;
neither let there be in thee any attachment to inaction."

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Seventy-six

Breakfast with Attar

Conference of the Birds

Sufi poem XII century, describing the Sufi path of illumination
through an allegory: the search of the birds of the world
for their king.

"You, who are given over to pride,
who are swallowed up in self-pity,
you do well to be disturbed.
Seeing that the world passes,
you yourself should pass it by.
Abandon it,
for whoever becomes identified with transient things
can have no part in the things that are lasting.
The sufferings you endure can be made glorious
and not humiliating.
That which in outward appearance is suffering
can be a treasure to the seer.
A hundred blessings will come to you
if you make an effort on the Path.
But as you are,
you are only a skin
covering a dull brain."

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Seventy-five

Breakfast with Rumi

Tracks in the Night Sky

Tell me, is there any blessing
that someone’s not excluded from?
What do donkeys and cows
have to do with fancy desserts?
Every soul needs different nourishment,
but be aware if your food is accidental
and habitual, or if it’s something
that feeds your real nature.
It may be, like those who eat clay, that human beings
have forgotten what their original food is.
They may be feeding their diseases.
Our true food is God’s light.
Animals and what animals eat
are not right for humans.
But because they are sick and dizzy, pale,
stumbling and weak, they don’t hunt the game
that leaves its tracks in the nightsky.
Tasting that is done without silverware,
and without a throat. It comes down
from the throne of God. This other
is just dust kicked up from the carpet.
But we receive nourishment
from everyone we meet. Any association
is food. Planet comes near planet,
and both are affected.
Man comes together with woman,
and there’s a new baby! Iron meets stone,
sparks. Rain enters the ground, and sweet herbs appear.
When green things and people converge,
there’ll be laughter and dancing,
and that makes good and generous things begin.
As we move about in the open, our appetites sharpen.
Flushed faces come from the sun. That rose-red
the most beautiful color on earth.
Through such runnings-together, the potential world
becomes actual. Live in that place of pure being.
Don’t worry about having ten days of famousness here.
Revolve with me about the sun that never sets.
Work cannot be separated from the Worker.

The Guest House

Dearest Sisters and Brothers,

One by one fifty two students representing most of the

groups of the Academy arrived at the Guest House
in Connecticut for a retreat to celebrate the life
and Work of Mervyn Brady and his aim
of Conscious Harmony.
We have our hosts to thank in the Long Island group
for their hospitality and tireless efforts
who brought us together to become one group,
the Academy Collective.

The presence of our beloved friends and teachers, Mervyn and John Grepe,

along with the Angels were deeply felt as they descended within
providing us with the retreat that each one of us needed.

In gratitude to Them…
Our hearts opened, filling our vessels with God’s mercy.
Guided by Their wisdom the presentations unfolded,

each beginning where the other ended.
Our names faded, accents merged,

until we were speaking the same language.
We shed tears of laughter, joy and sorrows

as our knots were untied.
Our darkest places were Illuminated, shedding light

on our fears, vanity and senseless thoughts.
We joined the Circle of Angels

greeting the nameless within.
We reached up to heaven and hailed

the Divinity in our hearts.
We shared communion with each other,

Mother Nature, and with God.
We were one.
In times of need, we served one another and our souls.
We embraced old friends and made new ones

for God’s sake.
We were given the sweet taste of honey

in celebration of the return towards brotherly love.
We were pierced by musical harmony

through Voice and Instrument.
Through art we were lead on a path of Higher Love.
We moved, we meditated, and through breath

we were filled with His inspiration.

By the end of the weekend,

the guest house became Our Home.

Now that the retreat is finished,

I hope that I will be able
to use the inspiring gifts my brothers
and sisters have given me,
and also to share them with others.

With love and blessings,
L

Cherry Blossoms

Dear Fellow Students,

I wanted to share this beautiful shot taken this Spring

by a friend of mine in Japan.
Cherry Trees in bloom.
I feel like this represents where our school is.

It is the Spring time of awakening.

I shared this treasured photo with J.H.
and she and I gazed into to it
seeing what man can see ...
then she noted
that when the photo is turned upside down
we are blessed with another view,
of  less obvious beauty ...
what God sees, a reflection,
not yet complete of his efforts, but forming.
God is everywhere perfect and sincere.
We, lifting our fingers, will still the water
to become a perfect reflection,
becoming the cherry tree.

I love you all.
Have a lovely blissful day.

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Seventy-four

Breakfast with Rumi

Story Water

A story is like the water
you heat for your bath.
It takes messages between the fire
and your skin. It lets them meet,
and it cleans you.
Very few can sit down
in the middle of fire itself
like a salamander or Abraham.
We need intermediaries.
A feeling of fullness comes,
but usually it takes some bread
to bring it.
Beauty surrounds us,
but usually we need to be walking
in a garden to know it.
The body itself is a screen
to shield and partially reveal
the light that’s blazing
inside your presence.
Water, stories, the body,
all the things we do, are mediums
that hide and show what’s hidden.
Study them,
and enjoy this being washed
with a secret we sometimes know,
and then not.
