When You Do A Thing...

“When you do a thing,
do it with your whole self.
One thing at a time
Now I sit here and I eat.
For me nothing exists in this world
except this food, this table.
I eat with whole attention.
So you must do - in everything...
To be able to do one thing at a time...
this is the property of Man,
not man in quotation marks.”
Gurdjieff

My Moving Center ...

My moving center needs to make way for the soul's pace,
the soul's direction,
the heart's connections more.
Meetings are so good for this.
If the rest of my day could continue in this way, ahhh.

Daniel Was Cast...

Daniel was cast into the Lion’s Den

and it was sealed overnight.

Here Rubens shows us the moment

when the stone was pulled back

by his friend the next morning.

The beast’s eyes are dazzled by the light

and we see Daniel

giving thanks to God for his deliverance.

In modern times

I am sure you all at various times

have had your Soul or inner world

cast into the Pit, and you have survived.

Sometimes I feel like this

but have learned

to make my Soul invisible to beasts.

I suggest you do the same.

It Is My Hope...

It is my hope
that having transmitted many painting observations to you
over the years that they created an excitement,
an eagerness for you to look and 'see'
and that the longer you remain in that state
the more you will express yourself
to the direct picture
and the more likely it is to leave a permanent trace -
a pathway that will make it easier for you
to 'see' and feel pictures to come.
Thus eventually you will be capable
of appreciating a work of art with the certainty
of a sensation of hot and cold.
We can digest and learn
from the best our European artistic legacy has left us,
and we can also try
to make ourselves works of art
that gives us as spectators of our own selves
the same joy in beauty and inspiration
that external works of art can give us now.

William Stott

I have recently verified that aim is like a northern star
it gives me focus,
meaning and holds the light
in stormy seas and dark nights..
Aim with desire creates such a strong triad,
helps us jump intervals,
heal frictions,
stay in love and welcome life at another level..
The aim in relationships
will set the course of that relationship,
an aim that is powerful and locked in
can help the soul experience more expression of itself
through the machine and awakenings of the heart.
The soul yearns for conscious aim,
the machine is in constant need of it.

The Work...

The Work is something living in our hearts and minds.
Follow the path,
see what changes take place within you,
and what light begins to dawn in you.

When You Make...

When you make the two One,

The inner as the outer

And the outer as the inner

And the above as the below

So that you will make the Male and Female as a single One

In order that the Male is not made Male

And the Female is not made Female

When you make eyes into an eye

And a hand into a hand

And a foot into a foot

And even an image into an image

Then you shall enter the Kingdom.

~Passage from The Gospel of Thomas

I Was Thinking...

Marc Chagall

I was thinking about the difference
between conscious acts
and doing what is merely mechanical,
which can take so many myriad forms
in any given moment.
Setting aside mechanical goodness,
and looking for openings
for conscious acts of kindness and genuine love
 is a perfect example.
I like that rather than focusing directly on raising our level of being,
we go ahead instead and act "as if"
we were already on a higher plane
and with each act we draw nearer
to becoming a permanent actor in this cosmic play.

In One Way...

Edward Burne-Jones

In one way in our work
we deconstruct to reconstruct
to make new beginnings.
We make new beginnings many times
sometimes one layer of the onion comes away
and sometimes many all at one time
which leaves us feeling vulnerable and raw
and then sometimes we retire to cocoon a little
while we get used to the new again.
Beginnings are important
because we look again fresh and strong
at the world with different perceptions.
