When We Really Practice the Work...

When we really practice the Work,
when we do not identify,
we begin to see everyone as equal beggars.
With this comes humility,
and then there is the possibility
that others will listen
to what can come through us from a higher source.

This Beautiful Painting...

The Death of Socrates, 1787
Jacques Louis David (French, 1748–1825)
Oil on canvas
This beautiful painting confronts us individually
with the issue of one’s own death
which someday has to be faced;
and this painting challenges each one to examine himself
to see if there is an inkling as to what is really valuable.
Death, of the body, will surely come.
The real issue is:
What is real development and maturity
intended to happen between birth of the body and death of it?
Let us live this question for some moments, some days.

I Have Verified...

I have verified that life will unfold
with a series of increasing tests
that are designed to breakthrough our mechanics and develop our being.
It was so clear for all of us
that had to face the deaths of our beloved students,
Lauren, Naz and Keith,
that the work was a foundation to stand on during such times.
Many of us experienced a jump in the level of being.
There is so much happening to us,
so many pressures, much hardship.
Yet the endurance I see around me
and the ability to face and survive the storms
comes from faith and growth of being in the work.

To Be...

To be thrown upon one's own resources,
is to be cast into the very lap of fortune;
for our faculties then undergo a development
and display an energy
of which they were previously unsusceptible.

It Seems That Most Tests...

Edward Burne-Jones

It seems that most tests in being have us face
our deepest fears or face feminine dominance in some way,
these tests are not wasted
if we see that as we transform these fears into victories,
into faith and trust, we are actually creating food for others.
Our experiences become part of who we are
in the world we can project faith and courage
from the soul and become the light in the storm
for others going through similar trials.

One Thing is For Sure...

Turner

One thing is for sure, life will test our being.
As students in the work,
we can use life circumstances that arise as difficulties,
challenges, unexpected shocks and life transitions
as opportunities to test our level of being.
We can then see what we can rely on within ourselves
and what still needs to be purified and transformed
in order for us to grow.
We can then learn to trust in that inner knowing
which we have accumulated over time
through digested experience and direct realizations.

I Think Shakespeare...

I think Shakespeare is telling us
that we wake in the morning and the play begins.
We have a role and if we can remember it
as a role we are closer to remembering ourselves.
He's giving us a tool to use on our path.
He chooses his words carefully.
He chose merely a player.

It is Said in the Work...

It is said in the work we awaken through our centre of gravity
and of course with the grace of C influence.
It seems part of our work is to reconstruct the centre
with the maturity of being that comes with time
and the presence of the soul
allows the open door of the heart to embrace all that comes.

I Was Realizing...

Walter Richard Sickert

I was realizing that often we find "roles" thrust upon us.
In these moments,
it is so important to see the higher possibilities,
whether to bare the crucifixion, and become purified;
whether to embrace opportunities and grow in essence;
or to simply invoke "civil disobedience ..."
the possibilities are so endless,
where our inner world is fully present.

If One is Pressed Hard...

 Dante Gabriel Rossetti

If one is pressed hard,
it is so that one may find faith and become free.
Our pasts are full of weak places, evasions, dishonesties,
that we thought were buried and forgotten.
But they have to come out. Sometimes it is very bitter.
Now with this strong influence that is shining on us,
all the flaws are appearing. Nothing can be hidden any more.
Because everything has to be firm and solid under our work.
So when we are hard-pressed,
struggling with the consequences of the past,
it is really proof that our work is strong and right.
It means that we are being given a chance to go faster.
If all the consequences of the past come to the surface
it is so that we may face them
and become free of them once and for all.
And under great pressure
one may find a faith one would never need at ease.

Perhaps the Stage...

Perhaps the stage for the work is everywhere,
not just at events and meetings.
Our daily lives offer many opportunities
to lift souls and serve others.

When We Are Feeling the Frictions...

When we are feeling the frictions
of our "human relationships"
and are able to be the "watcher",
we can signal our inner world to go higher.
This is the place of the answers,
not in the slog of the battles with our features and those of others.
Wisdom comes in that beautiful moment
of submission to the divine.

Mervyn Said Human Relationships...

Melvyn said human relationships are designed to fail
or why would we need the Gods?
If the machine could be contented and happy
it would not allow the soul to search for the higher.
He said many things along these lines,
some consolation when one is faced
with the reality of one's one failures.
