The Captive Unicorn

Dear friends,

Last meeting while we were sharing angles for the second time about the formatory mind, this image came to me over and over again. This is how the formatory mind keeps us trapped, and we cannot approach life -- without our soap opera, our stories, our opinions -- just fresh and new, every second of every minute, naked.

Our precious Soul is tied to our body like this lovely Unicorn is tied with a delicate chain ... Maybe if we can get rid of the rigid formatory mind, our Unicorns will be able to visit all the sacred garden surrounding us.

I love you,

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Ninety

More of Mervyn’s wisdom from 1998:

The centers judge each other, they don’t understand each other. Hydrogen 12 overrides the differences between the machines. Emotionally centered people must use their kings to understand what they want, reduce the speed 150,000 times and then explain it.

Whatever we go through in life we have to ‘let go.”
The only thing we have is the present moment.
The best way to deal with I’s from the past is to clear them.

Look at the past with your new being and it will change your relationship to it.

Becoming a better person is the domain of the machine - souls can only become more awake.
The lamb must become a ram as the wolf won’t take on a full grown Ram.”

We often felt  that these lines from “To You” by Walt Whitman
equally come from Mervyn to all of us:

“Whoever you are, now I place my hand upon you, that you be my poem,
I whisper with my lips close to your ear,
I have loved many women and men, but I love none better than you”

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Eighty-nine

From one meeting of Rodney Collin and his students.
Q.- What is attention?
A.- The attention is intimately connected to the potential soul, because attention is subject to will.  If we really try and if we really wish to work on attention, to direct attention, to concentrate attention, to divide attention, it is only through will, and will is an attribute of the soul. By developing will, strengthening will, the soul will automatically grow.  And the most common way in which we can exert will is precisely to exert it on  attention.
Attention is an energy force, it is like an emanation, something that detaches from us. By the mere fact of being alive we are constantly releasing the matter of attention. Attention can be attracted or it can be completely diffused.  The most common is for the attention to wander from one object to another, because one is squandering this force without any goal.
Put down in writing all your goals. Then try to reduce them, to concentrate them. Because then you will see there is a larger goal, that embraces all these ramifications.

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Eighty-eight

From Rodney Collin: Theory of Conscious Harmony
"God is not the same as consciousness; God is not the same as the Absolute. Because God is a sacred word which produces a Sacred echo. Consciousness and absolute are not sacred words, and do not produce this vibration, which immediately connect us with the truth, and in the sense of which it is impossible to lie and fear.
The body is a very wonderful and beautiful instrument. But there is a key-phrase in the Whirling Ecstasy we must never forget. It says simply:¨"Leave the body and come". This is very important. It is very clear - everything is said there. It doesn't mean we have to forget our body. It won´t prevent us from going to God. The body will take us to God or prevent us. It all depends on the use we make of it. We must make good use of it - but remember we have to leave it"....

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Eighty-seven

Dear God:
Help me to remember myself
And to avoid all Involuntary Action,
Through which alone
evil may manifest.

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Eighty-six

"No thing is evil, but in forgetfulness of God.  …
No thing is good, but in remembrance of God. All things are good, remembering their godliness. For this their godliness transcends their time, change, devilishness and decay. In each this godliness is named the Self. Remember then thy Self, remembering God: remember God, remembering thyself.
Yet remember too that none can merit Him. God not even the angels dare deserve. God alone can give Himself. But this to eternity he does. For such He is.
This is the secret – awfully simple – that the Earth ignores. To ignore it is one thing, to guess it is another, to know it a third, a fourth to perceive it, a fifth to be it."

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Eighty-five

Mervyn’s 1998 lectures continued:

“How does one repair damage in the emotional center?

It gets affected in its capability to radiate energy. It must be exercised, fed and watered or it becomes atrophied. The emotional center is complex. Many things can make it retreat as it is like a snail. The safest way is to come out through the Kings. Then the Kings or common sense govern its coming out. Create an environment in which it can flourish.

The emotional center doesn’t tend to discriminate, whereas the other centers are more discriminating. It normally works on like or dislike. People may appear to be damaged but usually the emotional center is just hiding. The soul is the higher emotional center.

The reason the other centers are intolerant of the emotional center is that it is insatiable. It can consume the energy of others. The emotional center is a bit thick, it doesn’t remember. The instinctive center has a limited capacity to receive the higher hydrogens of the emotional center.
He who seeks emotional love evokes its opposite - this is a law.

When God does come he has to have our consent.”

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Eighty-four

From Mervyn’s 1998 lectures, continued.
“Mechanical habits of the machine promote crystallization. If you are stuck in a feature, the feature will crystallize and you will be locked in. Self-remembering is like a heat-lamp that breaks the patterns of the features and thus allows the soul to grow.

The instinctive center seeks out patterns because it’s found a safe way and wants to repeat it. Friction for the instinctive center is to have to break a comfortable pattern. If someone dies, it is the emotional center that suffers, the instinctive center doesn’t suffer unless it has no money.
The instinctive center has to be trained. Children without training have unchecked instinctive centers.

At some time you have to accept the machine that you are in. That is a big pill to swallow. You need to learn about body types so that the body can talk to the soul - not the other way around.”

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Eighty-three

From Mervyn’s lectures in 1998:

“An awakened man would have a very subdued instinctive center; he would be a true gentleman.
The whole idea of an English gentleman is not to antagonize the other person’s instinctive center. Consider what the instinctive center of the other person wants. Refrain from antagonizing another person’s instinctive center. Generally avoid becoming involved in people’s plays.
Noblemen, Knights, courtiers, gentlemen, they represent the order of the highest King of Hearts behavior throughout time. In modern times we have devolved from this as the standard to strive for.”

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Eighty-two

Mervyn’s practical wisdom and brilliant insight come through these lectures, which come from meetings he gave in 1998.
We are so grateful to him for sharing his body and soul with us.
Love,

“The school must now create a conscious society, a city of friends impervious to the attacks of the rest of the world. Denying force is not difficult if you have the right third force.
An octave done consciously is very different than an ordinary octave. If your third force is something higher then you can work through any interval, complete any octave. Then the octave becomes as a sword going through water. "

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Eighty-one

Breakfast with Rilke

With Silence or a Solitary Joy

Just as bees gather honey, so we collect from all that happens what is sweetest – and we build Him. Even with the littlest, most insignificant thing, when it comes from love, we begin. We begin with effort and the repose that follows effort, with silence or a solitary joy, with everything we do alone without anyone to join or help us, we begin Him who we will not live to see, any more than our ancestors could experience us.

Yet they are in us, those long departed ones, they are in our inclinations, our moral burdens, our pulsing blood, and in gestures that arise from the depths of time.

Dear Friends,
It has been a beautiful blessing to share nine wonderful days of food for the Soul with everyone. We hope that you have enjoyed the meal as much as we enjoyed planning and preparing it for you.

We send you love and light from Puerto Vallarta.

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Eighty

Breakfast with Rilke

The Future Enters Us

It seems to me that all of our sadnesses are moments of tension that we feel as paralysis because we can no longer experience our banished feelings. Because we are alone with the unfamiliar presence that has entered us, because we feel momentarily abandoned by what we’ve believed and grown accustomed to; because we can’t keep standing as the ground shifts under our feet.

That is why the sadness passes over like a wave. The new presence inside us, that which has come to us, has entered our heart, has found its way to its innermost chamber, and is no longer even there – it is already in our blood. And we don’t know what it was. We could easily be persuaded that nothing happened, and yet something has changed inside us, as a house changes when a guest comes into it. We cannot say who has entered, we may never know, but there are many indications that the future enters us in just this way, to transform itself within us long before it happens.

That is why it is so important to be alone and attentive when you are sad: because the seemingly uneventful and motionless moment when our future steps into us is so much closer to life than any loud and accidental point of time which occurs, as it were from the outside.

SOUL'S BREAKFAST - Day Seventy-nine

Breakfast with Hafiz

A Suspended Blue Ocean

The sky is a suspended blue ocean.
The stars are the fish that swim.
The planets are the white whales
I sometimes hitch a ride on,
And the sun and all light
have forever fused themselves
into my heart and upon my skin.
For every sign Hafiz has ever seen
reads the same.
They all say,
“Have fun my dear; my dear, have fun
in the Beloved’s Divine Game.
O’ in the Beloveds Wonderful Game.”

A Rabbit Noticed My Condition

I was sad one day and went for a walk;
I sat in a field.
A rabbit noticed my condition
and came near.
It often does not take more than that
to help at times.
To just be close to creatures who
are so full of love that
they don’t chat.
They just gaze with their
marvelous understanding.
