Marvelous Redemption
by William Holman Hunt
One of the problems that hinders men the most is his instability. One moment he is full of faith and conviction and the next he returns to his usual fears and doubts. We all repeat the case of St. Peter's terrible denial but without his deep remorse and its marvelously redeeming result.

On Negative Emotions
by Edward Burne Jones
It is very difficult to stop negative emotions and is not normally in ones power to do. Perhaps only after long concentrated self observation and work.
However, it is within our power NOT to Express them.
This is what the work asks.
There are 2 things NOT mechanical in this Universe.
Soul Remembering and the non expression of negative emotions.
By not expressing them we create a pressure which allows us to observe them, and to see where they originate from.
Of course there are many different types,
Generally, the rule is........When you are feeling negative....there is observation and work to be done.
Not justification.
So try not to express them, and if you do, forgive yourself immediately.
There is nothing as crazy as getting negative over negativity.
One last thought is.....
All expression of negativity requires our permission and it is ALWAYS wrong work.Sunday, January 27, 2013
Self-remembering
by Leonardo da Vinci
I feel like my moments of self-remembering now can be different from what they where in the beginning when I first started. There is not anymore the need for the same efforts, the moments just come, but I feel like it's my effort to be open to receive them and let my heart work in a way that love can enter and from that, a constant flowing of energies that would allow me to connect with the higher and connect with God.

When...
The reparation of all wrong's,
The healing of all wounds,
The righting of all failures,
The righting of all failures,
The sweetening of all sufferings,
The relaxation of all strivings,
The relaxation of all strivings,
The harmonizing of all strife,
The unravelling of all enigmas,
The unravelling of all enigmas,
present......and future......

The Walls of Time
The walls of time and space seems solid, real and insurmountable, but the soul is capable of demolishing them all. Life sees any talk of this as insanity, although I know that the soul can compress eternity into an hour or stretch an hour into eternity.

Experience
by Pieter Bruegel the Elder
Jesus.... when he was vulnerable and it was not time for him yet,
he disappeared in the crowds. I can disappear amongst my i's ....just melt away to a higher place.
Until the machine digests something higher can it come to an understanding of what has occurred.
It is not the higher me that suffers...yet I must learn to protect myself against myself first.
Through our suffering and experience we learn to stand on more solid ground.

No Fear
by Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant
I have never heard a seagull complain about the wind.
In that sense, they are very wise.
Now imagine, if we were to shoot an arrow
and barely miss one of them.
Do you think the Seagull would stay on a rooftop
thinking of how scary it is to fly?
Of course not. Nevertheless, many of us live like that.
I want you all to remember that what
we should fear the most are our own fears.

To Hear
First, effort to make silence in ourselves, by
stilling the noise of our imaginings:
Second, effort to listen, to become aware of
something outside us:
Third, effort to take in - a new faculty is needed,
to start a new process of thought and feeling.

Temptation
...and lead us not into temptation
This means keep us away from events which will put our soul asleep, because we do not yet have the being to handle it.
The ultimate denying force is the force which stops us from further evolution.

To Know
by El Greco
St Augustine of Hippo wrote:
“O God, thou hast made us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless till they rest in thee”
I find it remarkable that nearly 1600 years ago this man wrote about a ‘restlessness‘ that many of us still feel today, a restlessness that led us to become Academy students, and in many ways follow his footsteps. St Augustine reasoned that this restlessness was due to us being out of harmony with God, and that our hearts will continue to be restless “till they rest in thee”. For to know about God is one thing, but to know God is quite another, and our hearts are restless until we do know Him.

Gratitude
St John of the Cross
It is said that you may entirely change your situation,
and open doorways of new opportunity,
merely by being having gratitude in your heart.
Heaven may descend to the prisoner
in the most destitute of situations,
if he can hold the vibration of gratitude,
even if that is just being thankful for his breath.

Purification
by Marcello Venusti
One of the things I have verified is that a kind of purification must take place before the opening of the higher emotions. Going deeper into myself, seeing the real boundaries I have built to protect myself, but also to hinder myself from loving, seeing my fear and being ready to let go of it, trusting. The beginning of real 'faith'.

Understanding
Artist Unknown
Understanding is not a product of one function in man, but the resultant of several functions working in harmony.
For example, if one appreciates something with the mind, one 'knows' it; if one appreciates it with the emotions, one 'feels' it; if one appreciates it with the external physical organs, one 'senses' it.
But if one simultaneously appreciates it with the mind, emotions, and physical senses then one really understands it. This is very rare as we are.
It can be developed. But in order to do so, something like 'self-remembering' is necessary - that is, one has to remember all one's functions and their relations to the thing in question."

Love Among the Ruins by Edward Burne Jones
To feel and breathe the cold air...to be Present to the gorgeous colors that nature was eliminating. And it occurred to me, that all I saw was change.

Faithful
by Edmund Blair Leighton
When we talk about conscious love we are of course really talking
about the natural action of the soul, the soul is love, that is what at
a certain level, it is and does. And the highest form of Self
Remembering is love.
But what of the understandings arising out of our inner work to self
remember, coming out of our growth of being?
How do these relate to love?
They are clearly lower than love and the understandings of love.
To me they seem like the faithful servants of love
that also guard and protect her.
The figure that sums this up for me is that of the knight.
The knight kneels before his lady intent on serving,
defending and honouring her.

Miraculous Catch
by Raphael
The fishermen's many i's impair their true Will and dominate their Souls, so that they produce nothing from a long night of casting nets...
Until A Man with the Unified "I" comes and speaks from his Soul, an Infinite Creative Will... they recast their nets and become witnesses to the most Powerful Abundance.
So powerful, that they leave their boats and nets to spread the word of God...
No more fear, doubts or lack.

Our Inner World
by Matthias Grünewald
The Soul begins this work by receiving or taking in
impressions, by opening our eyes to the reality and
truth of things. The space formed between ourselves
and the image is where the Soul should live. To be
awake is knowing that this space exists, it completes
us. When the Soul has no images to digest, the Divine
enters and we begin to digest Love itself. Jesus
explained this as the inner becoming the outer; we
replace the identity of our I's and our personality by
replace the identity of our I's and our personality by
continually forming a space for the Soul to be and
Love to enter our inner world.

Expression
by Vincent Van Gogh
Our hearts turn into luminous SUNS
and shine through the fibers of the body
transforming and awakening the cells
...quickening and illuminating
all the processes.
My lungs contain the sacred wind to blow change
and infiltrate every corner of my house
to allow my cells to use all the nutrients
to explode into blossoms
in my breath and being.
As i sit here now, I could have thoughts of how alone I am
here in this wilderness, in this isolation,
but on awaking this morning it was one word
that sublimated on my lips
and just that one word "Expression"
had a new meaning to me all of a sudden.

Gather ye...
The wave of emotion will inevitably subside.
But the task is to fix the understanding that it brings
in order that this understanding may remain
even when the emotion that brought it has gone.
The person in whom new attitudes are fixed, permanent, reliable,
can be the instrument of higher powers.

Return
by Pompeo Batoni
When I Love, I never get lost.
Love is a refreshing breeze; the beauty
that creates infinite circles in the sky.
that creates infinite circles in the sky.
It knows deeply where the source
lies and will always return.
lies and will always return.

The Light of the World
by William Holman Hunt
W.H. Hunt's painting has captured the moment each student should be longing for: The knocking of divinity into one's inner world. If the door is a metaphor for the gate of one's soul, one can envision how much seclusion and forgetfulness the soul has to endure while waiting for the knocking of divinity to be heard. The painter reveals with magnificence the vastness of our worldly backyard within an isolated place where one's inner world can be found. At this darkened doorstep, one should realize how seldom, if ever, this divine gate has been opened...In the meantime, each one of us should have understood that only perfect quiet stillness and emptiness within oneself gives the soul the opportunity to be opened and born.

Hidden
by Authur Hacker
That our greatest weakness points to a hidden potential for transformation and achieving its opposite; where there is fear, may be courage...where the heart is closed, a deep capacity to love...where there might be ignorance, lies true wisdom…. Through the recognizing of a weakness a desire is born. It is like an impulse from the soul, urging the machine to look for solutions to seek guidance, to be shaped by the friction…Until finally, through one’s own efforts and some higher third force, we can claim that the weakness has become an offering to the gods.
