To Hear

To Hear means three separate efforts combined continuously:

     First, effort to make silence in ourselves, by

stilling the noise of our imaginings:

Second, effort to listen, to become aware of

something outside us:

Third, effort to take in - a new faculty is needed,

to start a new process of thought and feeling.
