Michel Montaigne...

From the "Autobiography of Michel Montaigne..."

"I must begin, he thought, with myself. When I have
drawn a portrait of thisself, with all its vanities, follies,
and imperfections, others may recognize themselves in it.
When I have shown them how, in order to live, I must
tolerate myself, and others, perhaps infection will lead them
to a similar cause. And together, all of us confessedly open
to error and weakness, we can build a world more to our liking,
without murdering men in the task."
